In 1951, she wrote her will including a large bequest for the establishment of a public museum in the City of Lynchburg. This is the seed from which Point of Honor has grown. After her death in 1971, her trustees worked with the City and others to acquire Point of Honor and begin its restoration. Opened to the public in 1978, Miss Diggs' gift continues to educate all visitors who come here.
